APSAA was established in a meeting held on October 6,1992, at Karachi, when a few private security companies joined hands to form a common platform, with a view to looking after the welfare of their employees, create awareness among masses about the importance of security and safe guard the business interest through effective lobbying with all levels of government functionaries. The security companies participating passed the criteria for membership and prepared a broad outline of constitution for the Association. Its Head Office was opened in Karachi.
The managing committee and office bearers used to be elected through transparent election held every year. The office bearers were elected as President, Vice President and General Security from the elected members of Managing Committee. These arrangements continued till Sep 1999, when the words “President/Vice President” were replaced by “Chairman/ Vice Chairman” while the elected post of General Security abolished. At the same time APSAAturned bi-zonal; North Zone (The Punjab & NWFP/KPK) and South Zone (Sindh & Baluchistan). And the post of senior vice chairman was added. Keeping in view the importance of professional training for employees of private security business, training schools, (ATS – APSAA Training School) duly approved by the respective Provincial Governments have also been established at Karachi and Lahore. APSAA that came into being with a handful of likeminded people at local scale, progressed well and soon it became country wide with almost every private security agency in Pakistan striving to become its member.
Today, we are proud to say that APSAA has gained an elevated status and it is one of the major Associations in Pakistan. Our members enjoy honour, respect and dignity not only among business community but also within the corridors of power. APSAA is the only recognized body representing Private Security Agencies in Pakistan. We are registered with Minister of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and an ‘A’ class member of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI).
Home department of all provinces are providing moral and institutional support and making it mandatory for all security companies to become member of APSAA, which will give us a Pivotal position in all other Association.
